Ties to the Land

万发棋牌Ties to the Land is an award-winning succession planning workshop offered by WSU Extension. Succession planning is the human side of estate planning, and is a way for families to maintain their ties to the land across multiple generations, building awareness of the key challenges facing family businesses, and motivating families to address the challenges.

Mushroom Forest Farming Webinar

Forest farming specialty mushrooms like shiitake, lions mane, oysters, and wine caps present a unique opportunity for farm and forest owners to diversify production and put something new on the dinner table.   Today, much of the specialty mushroom market is supplied by wild-foraged products but log-grown operations can provide reliable harvests on minimal acreage while retaining it’s value as a sustainable, forest-grown product.  Whether your interest is as a producer or a hobbyist, this webinar will cover the basics of log-grown mushroom operations.

Forest Health Seminars

Is your forest healthy?  What does that mean?  Are dead trees okay? This seminar will cover common insects, diseases, and other agents that can impact your forest and help you determine when it’s something to worry about.

2020 seminar details TBD

Forest Stewardship Coached Planning

Forest Stewardship Coached Planning is the flagship course for small landowners and is put on in partnership by WSU Forestry Extension and the WDNR.  Topics covered include silviculture, ecology, harvesting, thinning, wildilfe, special forest products mapping, soils, and much more.  Through this series of classes, landowners are “coached” through the process of writing a forest management plan for their property based on their own management objectives.  Your management plan is a key to accessing resources for small forest landowners in this area, such as reduced property taxes, cost-share assistance programs, and becoming a certified stewardship forest

Shelton – Fall 2020 (details coming)

Family Forest Field Day

万发棋牌This “out-in-the-woods” learning opportunity is an annual event that attracts professionals from around the state to teach landowners about forest management in a hands-on setting.  Multiple sessions are offered throughout the day, allowing you to pick the topics that interest you most.  It also provides an opportunity to network with local organizations, professionals, and other landowners who can offer you advice and assistance for your forest projects.

This event will likely be held online in 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis.  Stay tuned for more information.
